This Week's Quote
You don't write because you want to say something, you write because you've got something to say.

Aggregate Data
Refers to a summary of collected information.  Data is accumulated from specified ranges and totaled, analyzed or summarized in respective groups.  The data has no  personal or individual level of statistics.  In web hosting circles, web site traffic logs contain raw data which is then interpreted by statistic generating applications forming aggregate data reports.

Tell It Wisely!
Last week we talked about the importance of becoming a trusted expert in your field.  Many ways in which to accomplish this over time include writing articles to include as precious content on your own site, but also to publish on other sites designed to accept your articles for public reading.

This week we look at what makes an effective article.  By effective we are hoping to accomplish a few important objectives.  Your target market must find your material on the web, read it with interest, learn from it and be inspired to follow you to your own site.

Just as important as it is to build your web pages with important content, titles, keywords and phrases which will optimize your site for search engine ranking, the same needs to be done in the construction of your article.  Research effective keywords and phrases relevant to your subject, and work them into the content of your article.  It is possible to post your article on multiple sites designed for article publishing and in doing so, use various titles from your best keywords and phrases.  These titles should be exciting with promising results to the reader.  Your title itself can be a call to action.  Keep your articles under one thousand words and make your sentences shorter than longer while being concise.

Look for the best sites to publish your articles.  As suggested in last week's Click Tip, search the web for article directories and choose sites that present well in all ways to the reader.  Many sites will specialize on your particular topic so take a good look for these.

Finally, as we also mentioned last week, your article must not be blatant in self promotion, however you do get to plug yourself in what is called the Resource Box, generally at the end of your article.  This should contain a call to action describing what your product or service will do for the reader, and your web address, telephone number and e-mail address can also be posted here.  The Resource Box is what you will count on for link backs to your own site.
